Mary Kom
Mangte Chungenijang Mary Kom (born 24 November 1982 in Kangathei, Manipur) is a legendary Indian amateur boxer, politician, and national icon. Overcoming severe poverty and social hurdles in rural Manipur, she rose to become the only woman boxer to win the World Amateur Boxing Championship six times and the only boxer to win eight World Championship medals.
She created history by clinching a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics in the flyweight category and captured gold medals at both the Asian Games (2014) and Commonwealth Games (2018).
